Rook : Sri Lankan Fusion started with the dream of Dee & Yeti Kumbukage.
They worked in family businesses in Colombo, Sri Lanka for a year before realising their goal –
“To set up a restaurant combining the best of Sri Lanka’s elements; unique Sri Lanka Cuisine, Ceylon Tea along with Sri Lankan Culture to give you the best Sri Lankan experience”
Good things come to those who persevere. 2016 turned out to be a momentous year marking the birth of their first child, Aarya, and the birth of their dream café/restaurant.
They secured a prime space down Malop Street in the heart of Geelong, Victoria’s second biggest city and “gateway” to popular destinations like Ballarat, Torquay, and The Great Ocean Road. The challenge of opening a restaurant alongside Geelong’s prime eateries fanned their enthusiasm. With their infant as their muse, the two went to the drawing board to create Rook Sri Lankan Fusion, a warm and welcoming all-in-one café, tea lounge and restaurant with a casually-chic modern look for all the family.
On 27th of August 2016, Rook opened its doors, bringing a unique Sri Lankan experience to the Geelong public.
